Voluntary Service Print

Museu Nacional da Música integrates a bigger project of cultural voluntary service coordinated by the Directorate General for Cultural Heritage (DGPC) whose main goals are, namely, to stimulate the involvement of civil society in the cause of heritage..

As stated in the DGPC Volunteer Letter, “Volunteering at DGPC Monuments / Museums / Palaces is an excellent opportunity to participate in actions to safeguard the heritage that constitutes the [portuguese] national cultural heritage, in the acquisition of specialized professional skills, in the construction of privileged learning opportunities, in the development of communication skills, in direct contact with cultural agents and in the participation in cultural and social events, giving each volunteer the opportunity to get to know the world of culture and to integrate into an active community, creative and dynamic.”

In order to adapt the larger purposes of this project to the specific reality of the Museum, we have developed a volunteer program that we present here and that is based on the development of projects related with our collections and the activities we promote.

This program establishes the conditions in which voluntary work can be carried out at the Museum, under the assumption that there is harmony between the expectations, desires and ambitions of the volunteers and those of the Museum, so that the experience is as good as possible for both parts.
